A year ago, Eileen, one of our La Karavana teammates with whom we’ve been working for almost 5 years, announced that she would be leaving the team by the end of 2024. Together we shared adventures, lots of laughters, some stress situations, beautiful travels, good conversations and so much more. We were of course, very sad about this news, but also very well understood her decision. Being part of the team means lot of work, we would be spending a few days a week working on the bus and also being away on trips quite often, which is not very rarely difficult to combine with other activities such as seeing friends, working for other projects, keeping a relationship, going on our own trips and so on. Now, two months later, we asked Ei how she is doing!
“So, it’s already been two months since I officially ‘resigned’ La Karavana. Which all sounds very official, but sadly true! Though I have to confess, I haven’t really noticed the difference in daily life yet, since I spend the last two months traveling and enjoying my newly gained freedom! Me and Sil have been exploring the beautiful and divers country of Brazil. The nature was breathtaking in many different ways, the people heartwarming and the vibe absolutely inspiring. After being back in the Netherlands for a full 36 hours, we jumped in the car again and drove to Malmö, Sweden, for already my third participation in the Carbage Run. We had now traded 40 degrees, sun and beaches for the icy roads through the Norwegian fjords. We completed the entire rally with only a few little breakdown this time!
Since a little over a week, we have returned home. This is the moment where I start to realize my personal La Karavana adventure really has come to an end in some way. Even though ofcourse I will still be it’s number one fan for ever! Also the bus and Sas & Jolies are not getting rid of me just yet.
Since I never really wrote any of the social media outings, this would be my moment to also thank the best and greatest companions I could have ever wished for during this amazing and crazy ride of setting up La Karavana. One of the biggest comforts in leaving is knowing that La Karavana is in the bestest of hands with Sas & Jolies. They will continue to thrive, enjoy, and inspire as they always have. ❤ And I will sometime tag along for just one more ride!”
