This intensive ‘crash course’ will teach you all the basics of surfing and safety to continue your surf-passion by yourself. We’ll discover some of the best Surf Spots in The Netherlands on this 4 day long Surf Safari camp on Wheels!
You will get surf lessons from the experienced surf instructors of De Surfbus. De Surfbus is a mobile surf school teaching surf on all the best surf spots in the Netherlands! Together we make the perfect team; we’ll chase the best waves and show you some of the best and most beautiful surf spots the Netherlands has to offer!
Board rental + wetsuits are included in the price.
We’ll turn on the music while we cruise along the coast together. You’ll meet new people, with whom we’ll be eating and sleeping in the bus on two different, unique camp spots. Of course bonfires & BBQ will be part of the weekend as well!
La Karavana is a 48 year old double decker bus that is converted into a hostel by Jolisa, Saskia and Eileen. The driving hostel has everything you need; a fully equipped kitchen, living room, upstairs lounge, 9 super comfy beds and a heater just to be sure. All food is included in the price.
For whom: beginners. This is a follow-up course on the surf-weekend we organized in May. This means we’ll cover slightly different subjects – skipping the very basics. However, it’s still a beginners-course.

TRIP INFORMATION
Pick Up & Drop-Off
Thursday at 17.00 we will pick you up at the Haarlem train station.
We will then take you to our first sleeping spot, a 35 minute drive in our old-timer bus.
On Sunday around 17.00h we will drop you off at the train station in Leiden – a train station that’s very well connected to the train network of The Netherlands (and only a 19min direct train from Haarlem – where we picked you up).
Food & Drinks
All meals are included. All food is vegetarian.
You can drink as much coffee, tea, water or lemonade as you like. Other drinks like beer, wine or soda are not included and cost €2,00 each.
Price
This trip costs €565,- Everything’s included.
The Bus
Of course part of the fun is to be driving & living in our ancient bus, transformed from an old public transportation bus into a comfortable group accommodation.
You’ll sleep in a comfortable bed, either a bunk-bed or a single bed. Your bed has its own little light, curtain and locker for your valuables.
Upstairs you’ll also find the lounge with a view, while downstairs is the living area, with kitchen and dining area. Both areas have what we call in Dutch ‘ARKO’ (Alle Ramen Kunnen Open’) and a heating system for the colder nights.
Downstairs we have a big lounge / dining area with heater, where you can start your day with a cup of coffee or enjoy conversation till we’re too tired to talk.
The Campsite
We’ll park the bus at different unique locations. We will use the sanitary facilities such as shower and toilet from the campsite or otherwise we have an emergency toilet on the bus too. On one of the 3 nights, we’ll stay in very special location, where there’s no shower available. So please know that you’ll not be able to shower on the very last morning. However; we’ll take a dip into the sea of course!

If you’re coming with public transportation, the best would be to use www.9292.nl to find out what route works best for you.
CARPOOLING
+/- two weeks before the trip, we will create a Whatsapp group with all the people that are joining. You can then arrange to drive together if you wish, or – even better – take the train together.
We would recommend you to just join.
But if inevitable, and you do really have to cancel your trip, these are our cancellation policies:ur cancellation policy is as follows:-
- Within 48 hours after booking: 100% refund
- More than 120 days prior to departure: you pay administration fee of €45
- Till 120 days prior to departure: you pay 10% of the travel fee (with a minimum of €45 administration fee)
- Till 90 days prior to departure: you pay 20% of the travel fee
- Till 60 days prior to departure: you pay 30% of the travel fee
- Till 30 days prior to departure: you pay 50% of the travel fee
- 15 – 29 days prior to departure: you pay 80% of the travel fee
- Less than 15 days prior to departure: you pay 100% of the travel fee
ITINERARY
At 17.00 we will pick you up and together we will cruise to the coast in our double decker bus – an adventure in itself! We will go to our first stop of this trip, where we’ll first enjoy a nice family-style dinner together and then take in our very first theoretical class, given by Casper!
We’ll of course all sleep on our bus on a campsite close to the beach – to start off our first practical class the next morning!
We will go to our first beach of this trip, where we’ll do a short recap of yesterday’s class and enjoy 2 hours of practical lessons before we take a break to enjoy a nice lunch.
After lunch and a little break, we continue with 2 more hours of practical lessons in the water!
We’ll drive to our sleeping place for the night, where we’ll cook for you, we set up camp and look back on an exhausting but very nice second day.
Today we’ll enjoy breakfast together and a cup of coffee before starting another instructive day. We drive to yet another beach today, to experience a different beach and different circumstances. We’ll learn more on some theory and jump into the water – there we go again! After 2hrs in the water, we make sure a delicious lunch is waiting for you.
After the break there will be 2 more hours of surfing before cruising in our bus to the next destination – another unique sleeping place!
Bonfires, good stories, good food & good company – de perfect way to end our third day!
On Sunday you’ll wake up with a nice breakfast, a cup of coffee and a Face Gymnastics session . Then we’re headed to the beach!
Today we have 2 more hours of lessons on the water from Casper, after which you can decide to just relax, or use the wetsuit & surfboard a little longer and practice in the water yourself.
We’ll finish the day with a drink & good memories, before we drop you off at the train station in Leiden. This will be around 17h.
